Certain properties of nanohydroxyapatite obtained from <i>Lates calcarifer</i> fish bone

Fish bone by-products are considered as abundant source of hydroxyapatite (HAp). The preparation HAp from fish bones not only contributes to improving the value but also minimizes negative impacts on environment. In this study, nanohydroxyapatite was successfully obtained Lates calcarifer purchased seafood export company in Khanh Hoa province. were under alkali treatment and then heated at 600oC within different time intervals 1, 2 4 hours. Analysis XRD SEM showed that calcium formed completely single-phase possessed an average size 50–64 nm depending calcination time. results Ca/P molar ratio 1.839 1.847 prove nano-HAp powders B-type biological hydroxyapatites, which has been confirmed by FTIR spectrum. addition, content heavy metals such As, Pb, Hg, Cd is detected safety limits. These properties allow be applied food medicine fields.
